Transport chain emission calculation and the new ISO 14083 by Verena Ehrler (Uni Eiffel).
In order to improve the sustainability of transport chains, a standard approach for their emission calculation is required as basis for meaningful comparissons – between different chains, over time, or over networks.
Initiated by ECTRI TG freight and logistics, the COFRET (Carbon Footprint of Freight Transport) project was launched in 2011. This was followed-up by the Smart Freight Centre-led LEARN (Logistics Emissions Accounting and Reduction Network) project and finally led to the current works on ISO 14083. In the webinar the development towards the norm, its structure and an oulook beyond ISO 14083 will be shared.
