Athens, Greece – July 16, 2012
In the framework of the EUTRAIN project, this first regional workshop organized under the auspices of ECTRI Member HIT aimed to promote and discuss the possibilities of greater cooperation between Mediterranean sea countries with the EU in the field of transport and all related issues.
The objective of the workshop was to discuss transport research interests and current policies in the countries of the Mediterranean, the difficulties that exist in participating in EU transport research programmes (and research in general), the potential for future improvements, and the recommendations that could be made to improve the access of research Organisations from the countries concerned by EU research programmes. At the same time, the most recent information concerning the current transport policies as well as the plans for the next EU research framework programme for the period 2014-2020 the so called “Horizon 2020” programme will be provided to the participants.
Venue of the workshop: Royal Olympic Hotel, 28-34 Athanasiou Diakou Str., 117 43, Athens, GREECE.
Two social events took place on Sunday, July 15 and Monday, July 16. In conjunction with this workshop, the International Activities Committee of the US/TRB decided to hold its summer meeting in Athens on July 17 and members of this Committee (prominent transport research representatives from the US and from around the world) were invited to join the EUTRAIN workshop, giving – in this way – a wider geographical coverage of the discussions.
You can find a short presentation of the EUTRAIN project, as well as detailed information about the fields of interest that were discussed during the workshop.
