As part of ITF’s Decarbonising Transport initiative, the International Transport Forum (ITF) has been working for the past few years on a project that focusses on the development of transport decarbonisation pathways for Europe. This project, conducted in cooperation with the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme, aims to help European stakeholders identify effective policy measures and scenarios to reduce transport CO2 emissions and meet Europe’s climate goals.
Since the launch of the three-year project timeframe in 2018, ITF has engaged a wide range of stakeholders from different areas of transport and related sectors.
ECTRI has been involved in this initiative as knowledge partner and contributed to main research themes of the project in accordance to competence of the ECTRI Members. With the purpose of the linkage between ECTRI and ITF, the Decarbonising Task Force has been created in 2018.
ITF is now planning a final event for this project, scheduled to take place during the 10th and 11th of December. The event will take place virtually and over two half-day sessions.
The aim of this final event is to bring together the stakeholders that were involved in the various stages of the project to take stock of the findings of the project, as well as disseminate the findings to other interested parties. In each of event sessions the main project outcomes and the policy implications and the implementation feasibility of the developed pathways will be presented.
