The TRB 98th Annual Meeting took place in Washington, D.C. USA from 13 to 17 January 2019. The meeting program covered all transportation modes, with more than 5,000 presentations in nearly 800 sessions and workshops, addressing topics of interest to policy makers, administrators, practitioners, researchers, and representatives of government, industry, and academic institutions. Several sessions and workshops focused on the spotlight theme for the 2019 meeting: Transportation for a Smart, Sustainable, and Equitable Future.

At the same meeting, the H2020 BE OPEN “European forum and oBsErvatory for OPEN science in transport” project was presented by Professor Maria Boile. BE OPEN aims to create a common understanding on the practical impact of Open Science and to identify and put in place the mechanisms to make it a reality in transport research. Openness, transparency, fairness, reproducibility of science are key aspects around which BE OPEN will seek to establish the ground rules for the transport research communities. ECTRI is involved in the BE OPEN project as Dissemination and Engagement WP leader together with ECTRI Members CERTH-HIT (Coordinator), TOI, NTUA, DLR, BME and CDV (as ECTRI TPs), AIT and LNEC (as FEHRL TPs).
