The CAMBER Project – Safer Roads in Urban and Rural Areas

ECTRI Members AIT, LNEC, and FPZ are excited to announce the launch of the CAMBER Project (Connected and Adaptive Maintenance for Safer Urban and Secondary Roads). CAMBER is a groundbreaking European research project aimed at drastically improving the safety and maintenance of roads in urban and rural areas.

With over 90% of road fatalities in Europe occurring on urban and secondary roads, CAMBER brings together 14 partners from 9 countries to develop innovative, cost-effective solutions for safer roads.

The main project outcomes will be:

1. The development of guidance materials, performance criteria, and tools to help road managers integrate safety considerations into maintenance planning

2. The creation of digital twins of road networks to simulate conditions and predict maintenance needs⁠
