On November 25 and 26, ECTRI held its 2024 Autumn General Assembly hosted by the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece. The first day featured a social programme, where Members enjoyed a guided bus tour, learned about Athens’ rich history, made brief stops at historical landmarks, and enjoyed the stunning views from Lycabettus Hill.

The formal meeting on the second day was led by ECTRI President, Ingrid Skogsmo, alongside the Board members, who presented the Board’s achievements and progress on the priorities outlined in the Implementation Plan for 2023–2024.

Treasurer Magnus Lamp provided insights into the association’s financial position and ongoing support for the European Transport Research Review (ETRR) journal.

A warm welcome was extended to the newest ECTRI Members. Dr. Eckhard Roll, Director of Deutsches Zentrum für Schienenverkehrsforschung (DZSF) and Dr. Andrius Jaržemskis, Director General of Smart Continent, introduced their organisations, highlighting their interests and contributions to the network.

The meeting also featured a presentation from András Munkácsy (KTI), TRA 2026 CSA project Coordinator and Domokos Esztergár-Kiss (BME), TRA2026 Programme Committee Chair on opportunities for Members to get involved in TRA 2026 and the VISIONS competitions, both set to take place in Budapest, Hungary.
