The upcoming webinar of the Thematic Group on Freight and Logistics will be held on March 4, 2022 from 13:00 to 14:00 CET, with a presentation from Verena Ehrler (Uni Eiffel) on Transport chain emission calculation and the new ISO 14083.
In order to improve the sustainability of transport chains, a standard approach for their emission calculation is required as basis for meaningful comparissons – between different chains, over time, or over networks.
Initiated by ECTRI TG freight and logistics, the COFRET (Carbon Footprint of Freight Transport) project was launched in 2011. This was followed-up by the Smart Freight Centre-led LEARN (Logistics Emissions Accounting and Reduction Network) project and finally led to the current works on ISO 14083. In the webinar the development towards the norm, its structure and an oulook beyond ISO 14083 will be shared.
